What Would You Do?

What would you do if you witnessed a parent berating their child in public for being gay? That's what this video aims to see:

Even though part of me dislikes these sort of things (they feel a bit like ambushes), it is really cool to see how people react. I also think it's interesting that people felt more comfortable approaching the mother then they did the father and that all of the confrontations were started by women as well.

  1. Wow. I can only hope I would not be that kind of asshole if my son told me he was gay.

I really don't care. But, he's a lot like his old man (not gay), so it's kind of an abstract point.

  2. This was really cool to watch. Part of me feels like I would get so angry hearing that exchange that I would get up and leave. The other part of me feels like I would get so angry that I would say something to the parent. It's hard to tell unless you're actually in that situation. Although, I'd like to think that I would say something.

I know that I would not be angry at my son if he told me he was gay. I don't love him because of his sexual preference, ya know? It seems so silly to me that parents get upset over their kids coming out. It just seems so ignorant. Just like that one video you posted of guy on the phone with his parents. Assholes!

    Thanks for sharing.

  3. mac: Out of what I've seen so far, you definitely don't seem like you'd be such an asshole. :)

April: I feel the same way. Part of me thinks I'd say something, but another part doesn't know. You never know if someone's gonna lose their shit. Knowing me I couldn't help myself though. lol

And I totally agree with you about my son. I can understand people being concerned about the bullying or discrimination their children might go through, but to reject your child is reprehensible.

What's on your mind?
